John EllisJohn Ellis, Director, Motorola, Inc.

 

John Ellis, a native of Chicago, is the Director of Carrier Market Development within Motorola's Ecosystem and Market Development team. John and his team are responsible for all ecosystem interactions with wireless and wired carriers worldwide, providing interactive support for the selection and inclusion of developer applications on carrier devices. His team is also responsible for the interactions between MOTODEV and each carrier's developer team, providing tools, SDKs, and technical interactions such as webcasts and technical chats in support of the carrier's work with its developer community.

John has over 18 years of experience throughout the telecommunications industry in both the infrastructure and handset businesses. He has held numerous leadership positions in Motorola with multiple international experiences including expatriate positions in both Europe and Asia. He is Motorola's Executive Council member to the LiMo Foundation and previously Co-Chair of the Mobile Linux Initiative, formerly in OSDL and now part of the Linux Foundation. In addition to his overseas experience with Motorola, John served as an in-house Spanish translator for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. He has undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Spanish from Valparaiso University, an MS in Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

John maintains a consultancy business where he teaches and presents on international relations and business culture. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Notre Dame business school where he teaches introductory financial math.
Mr. Ellis is fluent in Spanish and lives in Orland Park, IL with his wife Karen and their four
children. 

Risto IdeanRisto Lähdesmäki, Chairman of BoD, IDEAN

 

For last 10 years Mr. Lähdesmäki has been living through the development of Idean and the evolving industry around product design and Internet-driven digital services. A creative and passionate person by heart, Mr. Lähdesmäki has an innovative and intuitive approach to discover and design new services and product concepts for the digital domain through over 300 completed international projects. As a senior industry expert of the Board, Mr. Lähdesmäki looks for new possibilities through understanding the benefits of combining user research and practical design.

Magnus Karlberg is Director of Hardware Sourcing at Ericsson Mobile Platforms.

Mr. Karlberg joined Ericsson in 2000 and has held various positions within Strategic Sourcing, Product Management and Portfolio Management.

Mr. Karlberg was one of the key contributors in the start up of Ericsson Mobile Platforms in 2001, implementing the new business model with the entire hardware supplier base. He later moved on to Product Management, initially as Product Manager for chipset and reference designs followed by a senior Portfolio Management position, being the expert on platform product cost, segmentation, semiconductor market/supplier trends and hardware partitioning/packaging strategies.

In May 2007 Mr. Karlberg was appointed Director of Hardware Sourcing.
Mr. Karlberg holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Lund University, Sweden.
He was born in Västerås, Sweden in 1975.

Sami KortevaaraSami Kortevaara, Senior Manager, Platform Competitiveness, Nokia

 

Sami currently works for the Nokia Devices Common Technology Strategy team and is responsible for the competitiveness of Nokia's technology assets and solutions. He is responsible for polishing Nokia's crystal ball to ensure that management has the best possible understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the future device competitiveness. During his 11 years at Nokia, Sami has worked in various portfolio management, supplier collaboration and R&D management positions in Nokia Finland, Nokia UK and Nokia France. His wide international and technical expertise combined with his business mindset give him a very broad skills set.

Sami has done various consulting, teaching and business development projects for universities and companies outside Nokia.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, from University of Tampere/Finland and an Executive MBA (with honours) from International University of Monaco. 

Thomas RorgrenThomas Rörgren, Senior Product Line Manager, Ericsson Mobile Platforms

 

Thomas Rörgren is Senior Product Line Manager at Product Management, Ericsson Mobile Platforms.

Mr. Rörgren joined Ericsson Mobile Platforms in 2006. Before joining Ericsson, Mr. Rörgren worked as telecom analyst with focus on the automotive telematics market. Prior to that he worked at Ericsson Mobile Systems, where he held various positions, in Sweden and abroad, within professional services, sales and business management.

In 2007 Mr. Rörgren was appointed Senior Product Line Manager within Product Management, responsible for the connected devices offering, i.e. platforms for LTE/HSPA mobile broadband modems for notebooks and other devices.

Mr. Rörgren holds a Masters of Science in Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology and a Master of Science in Business Administration from School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
